You can know that your identity is in Christ and still feel the weight of something that happened years ago. If that sounds familiar, you are not alone.
In this episode of the True You Ministries Podcast, I talk with Christian music artist Krystal Craven about faith, painful experiences, and what it can look like to let God into the places we have tried to hide.
Krystal shares how knowing about God gradually became a relationship with Him. Yet growing in faith did not erase everything she carried from the past. She began to see that minimizing her pain was not helping her heal. Bringing it into the light gave her room to receive God’s grace more deeply.
She also speaks honestly about surrender. At one point, she realized she was afraid of who she might be without the familiar patterns she had lived with for so long. Trusting God did not give her a complete picture of what came next. It gave her a way to take the next step.
For Krystal, surrender became practical: acknowledging what she felt, journaling, crying, walking, and bringing her burdens to God instead of holding them all inside.
Healing may take time, and your path may have turns you did not expect. But what happened to you does not have to define who you are. Your identity is in Christ, and you can learn to walk in that freedom one step at a time.
